About Me
Living on the Sunshine Coast is a huge source of inspiration for me. My natural surroundings have played a large part in my botanically inspired work throughout my life. Growing up in Melbourne’s beachside suburbs and then living in the forests of the Dandenong Ranges has given me an appreciation of nature from the beginning and my interest in art has grown from a love of drawing and painting to engaging in many varied creative pursuits.
After completing my schooling in 1989, I spent 5 years travelling through Europe and studying prop making and visual merchandising at the London School of Decoration. On returning to Australia I followed my creative passions by working in the film and television industry as a scenic artist and caterer and have undertaken further courses in furniture restoration, framing, visual merchandising and traditional book binding.
My paintings and drawings are rich and textured, often resembling decorative wallpaper and fabric design. My works lead me on a journey of discovery, not only of the elegance of nature but of the possibilities that each new experience can add to my passion for the creative spirit.
The onset of Covid and strict quarantine orders gave me more opportunities to create. I ordered a block of clay online and began my passion for ceramics. Since then my pottery practice has taken over as my preferred medium.
